This 944 is in truly outstanding condition, testament to all its previous owners over the years gone by and, arguably, in one of the best colour combinations of a bright Zermatt silver body and oxblood interior. It really wouldn't take much work to become showroom condition.
Over it's life, this rarer 16v 944S has been meticulously maintained irrespective of cost and it backed up by a comprehensive history of work in a folder, including receipts. It sailed through its last MOT with no advisories, which expires in August 2015. Within the last few years (less than 5k miles) this car has had a head rebuild including a decoke and cambelt/belts service. The engine is clean and there is no evidence of oil loss between the minor services carried out.
Despite having covered 153k miles, (an average of less than 5.5k per year since initial registration) the bodywork is in great condition. Additionally, I have just had the sills checked and stoneguard protection repainted to maintain a clean and fresh look. There are very few minor marks on the body, which is remarkable for a car of this age and the relative rare 16inch Teledial wheels are clean with minor markings/corrosion. The tyres have plenty of tread all round also.
This 944s drives very well and sounds great with the stainless steel exhaust system (retaining the standard tailpipe look). The engine and gearbox work well and the car pulls very strongly, especially in the upper rev ranges, which is characteristic of the 16v Ventiler engine.
The brakes stop the car well and the ride is firm but comfortable. I had planned to upgrade the front shocks to firm up the front end some more over the summer months as they are starting to feel a bit weaker now.
The interior is near perfect too apart from minor repairable damage to the drivers bolster.
On the outside there is a small crack at the bottom edge of the windscreen as shown..
All the electrics work as they should such as the power windows, seats, sunroof, mirrors, heater, digital clock, blaupunkt CD radio, etc bar the powered boot release, which I have not yet managed to investigate as yet.
This is a great example of the 944s and it's ready for the summer months.
The car is located just south of Luton on the M1 but I can take it into work with me in Harrow if viewing required.
Thanks for looking and please get in touch if you would like to make a serious offer.
Took liberty to do MOT today 3 months early so I could be 110% confident on selling my 944S.
Passed with following advisories
- slight seepage from a power steering pipe
- front offside inside edge tyre just starting to show wear
- Rear brake pads starting to wear thin
The car is very clean underneath, thanks to being waxoyled in years gone by.
All in all, combined with other minor issues described above, this 28 year old classic is now ready to drive away now with a fresh 12month ticket.
